You are right, we didn't always get these messages. I forward messages to the list that come from 2 different sources:

-Email addresses that are not subscribed to the list. This is an attempt to cut down the "spam" mail that was coming to the list. Unfortunately, the ListServ software is not happy working with the "redirect" funtions, so I have been simply forwarding them to the list. That little header of "reply to them, not me" is an attempt to keep confusion at a minimum.

-Subscribers who have mail software that ListServ doesn't like to talk with. For example, you may notice I am always forwarding Dave Bayer's posts to the list. That's because the old version of ListServ can't interpret his return address correctly, so they go to me for approval.
