Subject: Sealed Battery
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi Volks, I have been concerned lately with my battery situation after reading responses to previous postings here on the list. My concern starts with the fact that the PO cut off the top of the battery compartment and cut the front to bend down the metal to install a previous battery. All that is covering the top of the battery behind the passenger seat is the flap of carpet. Also, I have noticed hot air coming from this area when driving...must be traveling up the venting tube. I have discovered that the battery I currently have is a sealed battery...does this alleviate my need for concern? Does this mean that no harmful emissions should be venting into the van? The guy at the battery store said that I would be able to smell battery acid if this were the case. Thanks Again for any helpful advice, Rick 85 Westie
