There have been a few posts over the years recommending auto trans fluid and/or Marvel Mystery Oil...

As I remember, I put a quart of ATF in the engine oil... maybe I drained out a quart of the old first...

Le the engine idle and went around the blocks a couple of times... maybe 1/2 to 1 hour run time... light duty work on the engine...

Then I changed the oil and put in 1/2 qt of MMO... ran that for a few days to a week... light duty; no heavy working of the engine....

That took car of the lifter noise... Then changed oil back to my regular 20 50 Bill ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Gladu" <jgladu@bcm.tmc.edu> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, August 23, 2000 12:46 PM Subject: lifter problem...
