Subject: lifters

Just thought I'd share a piece of info on noisy lifters. Someone told me, probably from this list, to NEVER shut the van off with the engine still cold (e.g., not yet up to full operating temperature). So, I never do and haven't had a noisy lifter since then. However, I picked my van up at the mechanic's the other day and they had moved it and shut it off cold at some point during the day, and the lifter tapping was Horrible. It finally went away after I let it idle for quite awhile. I give her a dose of Marvel Mystery Oil every once in awhile when I need to add a bit of oil, and I think it helps. My dad swore by it.
