Bill-

How do you keep the pots from falling through the opening in the grill on the
stove?

For others on the list I personally use a "stand" for a Dutch Oven that I got
from Campmor. I DON'T however use a Dutch Oven, just a regular stainless pot
from an old home kitchen set. (FWIW a dutch oven is just a big cast iron pot
which does not have it's own heat source. Great for cooking a pot roast at
home but too cumbersome for inside the Westy).

Anyway the dutch oven stand I use is designed to sit in the hot ash of a
campfire. It has three "legs" that I sit on the stainless steel top of the
stove in the Westy and crosses over the flame at about the same height as the
existing Westy grill. It essentially makes a three bar cross across the the
hole in the existing grill. The down side it it scratches the stainless steel
stove top below the grill where the "legs" sit. Holds up a smaller pot fine.

To use a pot big enough to sit on the existing Westy grill gets a little
silly for my taste. (that's not to criticise anyone who uses a bigger pot).

Also for coffee I have a Melita 6 cup drip pot that cost about $10 or $15 at
Lechters which is a kitchen store in the east and maybe elsewhere. The top
funnel that holds the coffee grounds and cone filter is plastic and the
bottom pot for the coffee is pyrex. The top plastic funnel just snaps off the
pot after the coffee has dripped through and the pot itself is comapct and
easy to pour. Not rocket science, but it works pretty well for me so I
thought I'd share it. And FWIW I just heat the water in the same stove top
pot I use for most other things to avoid carrying an extra kettle for boiling
water.
