Jonathan,

About a month ago I was returning from a long trip and my O2 and alt light started flickering together. It was very intermittant and they both came on together. Also, my temp gauge wasn't working at the time (intermittant bad sender - FIXED) so I thought it was a wiring problem somewhere. It turned out my alternator WAS bad and I ended up 20 miles from home with a dead batter (and a spare alternator under my rear seat unused!).

So, I'd definately get the alternator checked or taken apart and inspected.
