OK, so what planet are you from that your eyes don't scan forward as well? Round (I know you didn't mean to say "road") lights have a slight edge on distance vs. square lights. Put a visor on the top inch and bottom of your round lights and you've got yourself a square light. Aside from the different light pattern, I believe people resort to using European specification headlights because of the wider choice of bulb wattage. All illegal in the US by the by.
