snip > It's not the bulb that gives a good light, but the lens and reflector.> Almost true, if you buy really cheap lightbulbs you could get them poorly assembeled which reduces both lifespan and light pattern, I once both a "bargin " lightbulb at a gasstation and to my surprice got every meeting car owner flashing their headlight in my face all the way home ! When I parked outside my garage I noticed that my dimmed light was almost vertical instead of horizontal due to a crappy bulb....

Iīve also tryed the twin square light grille on my Vanagon, got one really cheap, itīs now resting up in the garage attic because of the dark nights with a large number of moose in Sweden, the round light are a lot better with the same lightbulb ( Philips "allweather" light yellow 60/55 W H4 )
