From what you are suggesting here, one should not use distilled water in their cooling system. But I dont get what you are talking about because it is jsut pure water right? Why the hell would it ahve any charge or draw ions or corrode copper and where did you find this anecdote?

distilled water knocks holes in copper pipe... in one anecdote copper pipe had to be replace by Plastic pipe at a military base in New England because we could not keep the copper pipe from corroding... it would leak again within six months of replacement... distilled water at ambient temperature.was all that there was going through that piping...
