"In contrast to MTBE, polyisobutylene changes the physical properties of gasoline rather than simply boosting oxygen content, says Waters."

For those of you on the water wetter thread the same can be said of it (about changing physical properties of the medium its added to): reduced hydrogen bonding between H20 molecules so the water flows more readily (thats my guess from what I learned in college: correct me if theres a reason to). In contrast Slick 50 isn't mixed in with aluminum to change the behavior of the aluminum - theres not even an assurance that it coats the parts in an even coating when you're simply adding it to motor oil.
