Subject: New turbo Beetle engine conversion spotted!

Hey boys and girls - another one to make you start drooling...

I saw a Syncro today here in Santa Barbara at my mechanic's shop with a fresh Beetle/A4 turbo motor in it. He is wrapping up the install and says he has about 50 hours into it so far, not including the A/C and some other doo-dads (!). VERY cool-looking installation, however - hangs a bit low in the back (prolly about 1-1/12" lower than the lowest point on a stock installation.) According to Mike Corry (the owner of the shop) the original kit parts came from Kennedy and David Marshall (Fast Forward); they had to cut off David's motor mounts and fabricate new ones in order to make things work. I will hopefully take some pictures tomorrow afternoon. It is really nice-looking. I'm hoping to do a profile story for Vanagon.com on it if I can hook up with the owner for a test drive and other stories.

I'll keep everyone posted...
