as far as I know it would make sense to discontinue these as the fridge vent is directly under the open window.. but as I am making a weekender that is not such a problem.. Also VW was looking for a more modern looking van for eastern europe and the states where fashion defeats function.. probably why the still use the loaf down in south america. the modern look was also the main reason for the square headlights IMHO to get outta the "dated" rut the Hippie vans were in for decades and still are referred to. and IMHO it wouldn't be anyway just use appliances that burn with care and know the issues/symptoms and causes always use adequate ventilation.. now westfalia werks couldn't use that warning for the "masses" as there is always the clueless majority that'll hurt themselves on a kitchen knife and look for someone else to blame. and that is why we have lawyers. to protect us from the clueless people's lawyers :)
