guess I don't really count in the longevity section of this survey, but my
recently acquired 89 syncro westy has only 41.5K on the original engine.
runs perfectly.  nothing mechanically ever done to it to my knowledge.  am
in the process of upgrading many things from reading the list... from new
coolant to ecu chip, etc.  the horror stories scare me, but with regular
maintenance...
