The type 1 will NOT fit the van&bus joints are thicker than bug. if you want the 12 spline or triple square bolts try a few vendors I believe they were made either way for some time.. My type 181 (thing) has the longer bolts in a 12mm 3xsquare also the 411/412 and actually many front wheel drive inboard joints.. Ithink the Audi 5000 series has the thicker joints. With so much diversity you should be able to get them from most import FLAPS or vw dealers I have a snap-on Loong allen socket and it works great, the big key to not stripping them out is to pick them clean with a dentist pick dan stevens feel free to ask or advise. I listen as well as learn.

My CV joint bolts have had the allen head section rounded out. Does anyone know where I could get good new ones, plus the tool to put them in the hard to get to inside of the wheel?

Also would anyone know offhand if the Type 1 IRS CV bolt fit the Vanagon? They have a 12? spline fitting in the head which may be less prone to rounding out.

Thanks, Mark Ingalls 75 Nevada bug 85 Kentucky Vanagon GL
