Subject: HOW TO GROUND STARTER MOTOR?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

And don't say "Started motor Grinder"

Hey list. Sorry for the question that is covered in the archives, but I'm using a borrowed line and don't have time to search the archives for this.

I'm 1140 miles into a 1500 mile trip and the van has performed flawlessly ...except for that pesky hot start problem that only comes around every year or two. Today it turned into a cold start problem (after a 300 mile drive). I would like to try to ground the starter, but would like to know exact procedure, if it was written recently and somebody could send it to me. In the morning, I wil pull out the Bently, and crawl under the car to take a look. Basically, I am assuming that I am attaching a #8 wire from a mounting bolt or something on the starter motor to some bolt on the frame. 1. Is there a recommended anchor point on each. 2. What conectors are advised? 3. Do I need to drill into anything for this?

BTW, I am parked on a mountainside about 40 miles northeast of Asheville NC. (Father-in-law's place, second leg of the trip, more later).

If anybody could recommed a good place in Asheville to have the radiator bled sometime this week, I be much obliged.

Please cc me directly because of bandwidth issues. Peter, his Family, and Zippy
