O Great and Wise Listmembers,

I would like your opinion, humble or not as to the worth of this beast:

'86 Syncro Weekender / Wetsy pop-top (rear cabinets, full width bench in back, one rear-facing seat behind driver, no sink, stove, and 12V only fridge.

160K miles, bad engine (may not even be rebuildable).

Body fair - some small rusted spots, although it is a California car, so no serious body rust. Broken headlight, and right mirror is not the proper one.

Mechanicals said to be good shape, except it needs a power steering rack. Is the PS rack a syncro-specific one, and are they, no make that, just how DANG much does one cost, and labor to install?

Pop-top in good condition. Interior fair, with minor rips on seat fabric.

I'm planning to look at it this weekend, so would like to know what is fair. Is this a good candidate for a 1.8T conversion, or how does it being a Syncro affect having an inline-4 conversion?

Thanks in advance,

Ron Antaki 510 223-1677 wrack@home.com
