Subject: Re: GL-4/Gl-5 gear oil in Canada

Canadian Tire has MotorMaster brand Synthetic Blend Extreme Pressure gear oil, SAE 75W90 which claims to meet API GL-4, GL-5, MT-1 and Military MIL-L-2105E specifications. I put this gear oil in the manual tranny of my '87 Westy back in March of '98 at 262260 km. Now at close to 300,000 km the tranny is still working well, shift smoothly between all gears up and down. Next time I change my tranny oil I will try Redline MTL. It is available in Montreal and Toronto from my investigations so far. No need to order from the US or Redline direct. Check Redline's website for the Canadian sources.

Cheers
