It DI water bad? In All of our cooling systems (nd:yag lasers, pumped dye
lasers, eximer lasers, boxcars, power supplies, diffusion pumps,
turbopumps, directdrive pumps, ccd cameras, pmts, amplifiers,,,, etc etc
etc)  we use the most pure and ion free water we can get.  This keeps our
lines clean.  The lines are made of copper, aluminum, nickel, stainless,
glass, brass, pvc, teflon, and a few other assorted plastics and
metals.  We have seen no corrosion- actually the warranty on a few of the
instruments are voided if we use anything but nano-pure water.  Funny side
note, we got a cute little new laser last week and it came, shipped
seperatly, 4 one gallon bottles of nano-pure water!  I guess they are
pretty serious about that!

Where are I am going with this is that the ion strength of pretty darn
pure water is not enough to leach a significant amount of ions out of the
wb cooling system.  And if it is, I'd rather to have a few ions leached
out than to add some foreign ions that would otherwise corrode the
inner workings and hidden mechanisms of my wb coolant system.

Well, all of this chemistry makes make we want to, well, do more!
