Subject: Sycnro Front-Diff Breather Hose ?
Content-type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

There's some sort of breather hose that is mean to connect to a small flared outlet on the top of the front diff on my '87 California Syncro. Being a flared outlet, it looks like it's supposed to be a pressure-tight seal or some such. My hose is badly damaged and won't form a seal on this, so I shall be replacing it this weekend. I found it this way when I swapped out my Viscous Coupling for a rebuilt Weddle Unit. (The VC gets a thumbs up. The new unit is just fine around town, and has already proven its lock-up capability off-road)

So my question is, where does this hose go?

My big fear is that it joins the rest of the emissions system (Fuel vapour and maybe the transmission breather) which then joins into the throttle body. If this is the case then I need to fix it PRONTO, since I'd be sucking air in past the airflow meter and idle valve, and only have the Oxygen sensor to compensate for any anomalies. And I do have a strange just-off-idle hesitation that hasn't been solved by replacing all the wearing parts (Cap, rotor, leads, plugs, O2 sensor), doing the Cap fix on the AFM and moving the guts of the AFM sensor around to make new tracks.

Does anybody know if this is the case?

Luke Plaizier
