I just installed a florescent dual-bulb light in the lower bed area for a customer. I purchased it from the local RV dealer's parts dept. The mfg. was Thin Lite Corp., the unit is about 21" long and 5.5" wide by 1" deep, flush mount, 26 watt. Great light, only $56. They also have a single-bulb unit, 8 watt, 12"x4"x1", $36. Amp draw is .9 A on the small, 2.2 A on the large light. Others are available, but these are the slimmest that I found.
