Steve,

Thanks for the offer. It's much appreciated. What your email brought to mind was a book from one of the BMW motorcycle clubs that I belong to. It's a listing of all members that want to be included and what they are willing to offer to fellow members traveling through their area.

It includes the members name address and phone number. In a small check list type format it lists things like space available (camping, sleeping bag or sleeping room and number of nights stay allowed), mechanical ability, parts availability, work space, willing to travel to help stranded member (and how far) or just chat and beverage of choice etc.

I never left on a long trip without this book. It gave me a really good feeling knowing that if something happened out on the road that there was someone out there willing to help. Luckily I never had to use it for a breakdown. I did us it often just to touch base with other members in areas I wasn't familiar with. Finding the best roads, getting together and just kicking tires and telling lies. I came away with many new friends.

What do people think about this type of book for list members? It may not prevent any misfortune from befalling our members out there. But it is nice to know who to call when you break down near the edge of the know universe or if the only human contact you've had for days is toll booth attendants and fast food counter help.

Blitz
