For the last hurricane that did not materialize, my wife bought two Coleman( I believe) battery (4 AA's) power laterns. Therse are metal and heavy and have a (Ta-Da!)... dimmer. They look like a miniature version of the gas Coleman latern. I hang one from the pop-top bar when the top is up for the upstairs, use the other one where ever. I should get a solar AA battery charger since I do not really like the environmental effects of using batteries. Prob not as good as hard wired lights - but can go anywhere, even outside.
