>I guess I am also asking what is >the SAFEST way, so my GF won't be so concerned when I use her Xterra as the >tow vehicle! > I once used an Isuzu TrooperII to tow a Westy from Ft. Lauderdale to Raleigh, using a tow bar. I assume using an Xterra would be similar. First, be VERY careful when you stop or the Vanagon will try to pass you! Don't make any sudden moves. I turned a corner too sharp coming out of a parking lot. One of the van's tires rode up over a curb and both vehicles started rocking violently side to side (this was at only 5-10 MPH!) I made the trip without any serious problems, but I'm sure it was hard on the Trooper. I think I put some extra weight in the back of the Trooper to help stabilize things a bit. Good luck, and take it slow! Bill |
