Girls traveling across country should maybe look into Youth Hostiles - stop
at one and you can buy a guide to all of the US... though sometimes they
prefer having foreigners, if you're an american and call before you get
there, you can probably stay a few days, esp if you're a woman traveling
alone. And you might run into some tourists you can team up with while
you're on the road...
