Subject: running rich--> Solved!?
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII
Howdy howdy howdy,
first, thanks to the mole of people who have been helping me fix my
bus. Lots of good vibes flow from this list. Second, I think i have her
fixed. But first the symptoms (84, 1.9)
0)running really rich
1)temp2 tested ok
2)oxy sensor tested ok
3)fuel pressrue regulator a bit high
4)injectors ok
5)compression ok
6)ecu connector cleaned and ok
7)running a bit cold (but always am when it is cold outside- gotta replace
the thermostat)
8) THIS IS THE KEY: running fine when cold, and like crap when warm!
What i did:
00)did the bentley VOM tests through the ecu connector. Everything was
ok. I did this at a few different temperatures and the temp sensors where
fine. But i did notice an unstable oxygen sensor reading
1)replaced oxygen sensor and connector with a flaps one (the 'old' one
(bosch) had less than 400 miles one it)
02)beat my head against the cement and emailed The List for help. A few
people said "if everything tests out ok, it is time to start throwing
parts at it, starting with the cheap stuff"...
03) ordered temp2 sensor (and washer) from a reputable list vendor
04) asked a kind person on The List to send me their good used pressure
regulator
05) my parts arrived earlier this week and i quickly slapped in the new
temp2 sensor. I did that first because it was quick, easy and wouldn't
require me to shower before going to bed (ie, no gas smell, just the sweet
lemonade & antifreeze purchased from Click and Clack)
Wah-la. I changed the oil (to remove the gas laced oil) and drove her for
25 minutes last night to make sure she got good and warm. She seemed
ok. Further driving tests should be done to make sure.... may have to find
some hot springs this weekend to test out my rig's drivability :-)
Well, i am 8 minutes late for a meeting... damn. Email me if you have
questions!
Cheers
matthew
ps, i'm going to slap in the 'new' pressure regulator too just for good
karma.
