Hi kids,
I've been off the list a while.
Two things.
One: Not Vanagon related but it could most likely affect your Vanagon
maintenance program!
I am 59 years old and flunked my PSA test. (Prostrate-specific antigen
test.) Further testing determined I have Prostate Cancer. Since it had
already spread beyond my prostate my two options were Estrogen shots or
testicle removal. I opted for the latter. I had the operation over a month
ago and am pretty much back up to speed. I only mention this to remind you
all to get your PSA test before it is too late. I should have been checked
back when I was 45 years old as my family had a history of cancer. When I
say, "you all" I mean this disease can also affect the women on this list;
financially, emotionally and in many other ways if your partner gets it. It
will affect everyone among your circle of friends, one way or another. Any
guy getting into his 50's should be tested. It's a simple blood test.
I don't want to start a thread about prostate cancer, there is gobs of info
on the Internet about it, but if anyone has specific questions about it I
will answer you privately.
Yes, I can now clear high hurtles without fear!
Two: We just got back from a 1800 mile round trip to Seattle to witness my
second son getting married. Yes, life does go on.
Beautiful wedding. During all our travels my
Soob powered bus never missed a beat. I love it. 20 mpg average. I now
have 20,398 miles on my conversion.
My most recent addition to Vanaru was a digital indoor-outdoor thermometer
mounted just below the dashboard radio/cassette. I put the "outdoor" probe,
on the end of a twelve foot long wire, inside the refrigerator. A great way
to see how well things were staying cold as we traveled along. It was 96
degrees
through Roseburg, Oregon; refrigerator indicating 47 degrees! (I used
battery setting while traveling, propane while parked or camping.)
Three: We saw a lot of Vanagons during our travels but not one "Vanagon
Sticker"!! I know they are out there but....
Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend.
Onward, ever onward.
Ron
