In the mean time the duct work fell down and bopped my wife on the head, you know how they get when something like that happens. I just made a couple of stainless steel strips about 2" X 7"--8" to reinforce the old mounting holes, and then I made new brackets for the rear A/C cabinet, which had broken the plastic mounting tabs. A/C is now mounted securely. If anyone is interested, I could probably provide a picture of the cabinet brackets. There is a recall for these brackets. Although you could make these yourself, the Dealer brackets are real cheap and sometimes VW will even put these for free. Of course your vanagon has to be within the VIN # for that recall. We stock these at the Dealer I work at and they are cheap, under $10 if I remember correctly.
