Don't know about the lid, my van (that Karl just did and I'll post about in just a bit) is a Syncro, which gives, what, 2" more clearance already? Best I can tell, the Tii setup is an ABA with a diesel mounting system, but uses an adapter plate instead of a diesel bellhousing, thus keeping the starter and Syncro fuel tank the same as before. Mine sits perfectly fine under the deck, but again, it's a Syncro. As much as I would have liked a 1.8T, I also demanded that the deck stay flat in whatever conversion I did or had done. Not sure what the point is about exactly the same emissions controls is - AFAIK the Tii brain is a RoW Motronic unit, and completely replaces the stock Vanagon computer. Except for the cat, then, the powerplant is totally SA, whence any conflict? I'm not trying to be contrary, just trying to learn. =David-M= wrote: > > > The comment is not invalid - > > Yeah the > >bus in SA has some differences but no one has ever posted that those > >differences have limited their ability to put in any given engine or > >transmission. > > > INCORRECT.
