Another possibility: I was able to find a set of doors complete with the original VW power locks, power windows and updated mirrors for a bargain at a nearby junk yard. Also obtained the wiring harnesses and relay for the power windows. This was the cheapest method since I was after all three features and also allowed me to use original components.
