Just read some old mail about how auto industry and related manufacturers won't necessarily put themselves out and spend more money on product development if the competition isn't doing it.

Witness the Tucker automobile. Industry fought Tucker tooth and nail and killed him off. But his car way back when had things cars didn't have then and you find them in todays cars, and we wouldn't drive without them.

Seat Belts - The Tucker had'em. The competition did not. Safety Glass Windshield - Tucker had them, Competition did not. Air-cooled - rear engine - ( almost out flanked VW on this) Way ahead of his time. The Tucker also had some sort of "Cabin Cooling system"

Advanced design, but the competition and big money killed the project.

Just items of interest.
