Subject: radiator fan anomaly
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Greetings,

I've owned my 89 Westy GL for about 2 years. The fan seems to have been working perfectly all this time. But, last week I ascended a VERY steep five mile road to a local ski resort. I was in low gear (auto trans) all the way at about 3k rpms. The engine got hotter than I had ever seen it and the fan did not cycle on. However, when I reached the parking lot it cycled on almost as soon as I could come to a stop. It did its thing and cycled off.

I've been off-roading many times at low speed/ low rpms and the fan has worked fine. The problem seems to be only at low speed and high rpms.

Anyone have any ideas? All advice appreciated.

Fred 89 Westy
