I have to questions both may be related, not sure.

First of all, ever since I bought my Vanagon the temp. guage (needle) hasn't worked however the blinking red light does work, at least at start up. In the owners manual it says not to worry about the position of the guage needle unless the red light start blinking. so, after all that, can I just depend on the "idiot light" or do I need to find and fix the guage? If so, what is the most common reason that the needle part has stopped working and how big of a repair job is it to change out the guage assembly?

The other thing is that the oil pressure red light doesn't work. I am guessing that the LED is burned out. Is this an easy R&R or do I need the assistence of my mechanic?

By the way, the fuel gauge and tech work so all is not rotten in Denmark!!

Thanks,

Chris
