My LED red light goes on without flashing when it overheats. It did this twice: once when the belt for the water pump and battery shredded itself because the PO's mechanic installed a water pump and put the part for the belt on backward, another time was when the white plastic bleeder for the rear heater poped itself like a cork from a bottle of champaign. (Interesting that tiico has an automatic engine shut off - none of the other options do do they?) The burn of the comes in phased in as if you were turning a light on with a sliding toggle - I think, if I recall correctly, that it has quicker response than the temperature guage

And although I have heard it serves as an overheat >warning light for the coolant, it seems redundant, when you have a >temperature >gage that tells you what the coolant is doing. So I don't rely on that as a >function. >
