Mark, its my understanding that one of the characteristics of the MT90 is that as a synthetic it has long-chain molecules deliberately put into the oil as part of it's make up. This increases the shear strength and reduces the tendency of the oil(as with any oil) to run off the gears, thus keeping it where it is needed most during operation----between the gear teeth, and on the bearings, where a LOT of shear wear is taking place.
