Martin, each province in Canada has its own idiosyncrasies regarding auto insurance so you'll have to get advice specific to Alberta. Here in Ontario, they like to play a cute trick: if you are new to Canada and therefore have not been licensed or insured in Canada before, they start you off as if you were a first time driver and insure you accordingly at VERY HIGH rates. It would be nice to think that this situation was corrected by NAFTA but I doubt it. When you insure your Westfalia, be sure to get it rated as a "Motor Home" which they are in Canada. Your rates will be lower and all of the camper stuff is included (unlike car/truck/RV coverage). -Larry
