Coolant and Speakers - my favorite topics for the month. Coolant. VW provides a drain plug beneath each half of the engine that require removal of the rock guard for access. Pain in the ass. Suggestions were made that to drain some but not all of the old coolant requires loosen some hose clamps and run out. How about this. Loosen just one hose, put garden hose in overflow tank, and run engine for five minutes. The engine would flush itself of all old coolant. Then turn off engine, let water drain, reattach hose, put enough antifreeze for 50-50 solution, fill with water, and burp. Speakers. I now have my door speakers removed and am looking for replacements. The speaker is mounted into the grill with a threaded plastic sleeve. Is this sleeve glued in place or is there any way to seperate the speaker cone from the grill/threaded section. They look like they want to seperate, but I've put a lot of force on them and they feel like they want to break. Can the grill and the thread be seperated??? Thanks jcal |
