I use my 85 westy as a daily driver and have since I got it with 80K miles and 8K on the rebuild. Some problems that were not indigenous to the Wasserboxer. Stuff wears out (alternators, O2 sensors, exhaust, CV joints) and sometimes parts are not manufactured right (had a weird head gasket tear after the rebuild). I should save and drive something else, but I love it too much, so at some point, I suppose I will rebuild or swap engines. While I change oil religiously, the list seems to be of two minds on Coolant. Do we change it or is it meant to be long term? Mine is 2 years old, genuine VW. Is there science to back up either position? |
