I've been going to Import Service Centre [sic] on Aurora, a little north
of the twin teepees. They don't specialize in VWs, but they have been
helpful, honest and competent on some tricky jobs.
They even took on a snapped alternator bracket bolt that another shop
has tried and failed to fix.
YMMV,

Michael:
Check out Louis Foreign Auto on 73rd and Roosevelt. I've had real good
luck
with him. Small shop, honest guy.

OK all you Northwesty's (sorry), I bet you are
expecting a recc from me for the best mechanic/garage
in Seattle. Actually, I just moved back out here after
being gone for 2 years and while my '89 is running
like a charm, it never hurts to be prepared because
the day always comes when I need some help.
So if you have any people in the Puget Sound Area you
can speak highly of, I'd love to hear about them.
I used to use Hans some(?Foreign auto) over in West
Seattle, a real honest guy, and willing to help out in
a pinch, and affordable, and I'd like to see what else
is out there. He seems like an air cooled guy
primarily and I'm not sure he's that focused on the
Water cooled Vanagon. Besides, I'm living in Capital
hill now.
I mentioned this morning I used to Use Bill at
VashonWagon on the island, I think hes got another gig
now besides car repair. I'm not that broken up over it
because he was expensive. He was cool about letting me
use his lot though to do my own repairs, that saved my
ass when I had to drop my gas tank the first week i
had the Bus, Arghh!
I'd love to hear your stories about Seattle mechanics.
Hope this isn't too obscure for the greater listserve
community...

"Fruitlands" is name given to the region around Harvard Mass by early
settlers. We dont live there any more, but I did when I chose fruitlands
as
a user name.
