I was reading an article in Autoweek while sitting outside the store in my Vanagon (mandatory content) waiting for my wife (whats new) and read an interesting article. In the gas crisis of the early '80s the US Gov't sponsored my small companies to develop alternative powered transportation. Paraphrasing the article, it said the company "X" took the K-car based pickup and removed the VW drivetrain to install electric power. At first I thought it was a typo, but it also mentioned it again later in the article. Has anyone else heard of this? It might be another source of junkyard parts in a pinch. I'll find the exact issue, and will scan it for those interested.
