Maybe there really is such a as thing as not driving a vehicle enough that it causes problems.....

Thank you for the responses on the gas tank vent hoses. I'll get those replaced asap. Now for the next trick,

Driving home last weekend from camping - a loud clunk started up in the rear and is somehow associated with the turning of the rear passenger wheel or the axel. The noise is not speed related. It will often clunk three or four times going around a corner, then stop. You can sometimes make it clunk once by goosing the accelerator (while moving, it won't do it when stopped). It sounds "free" to clunk away unfettered by moving parts, but only does it when moving. It's not in the engine. It does appear to be associated with applying the brakes, other thatn doing so sometimes makes it stop. My wife thinks it sounds like something big is about to work its way loose and fall off. It can get quite loud, but also be quiet enough to just hear above the wind and engine. It clunks at different rates. This clunking has no detectible effect on the maneuverability of the vehicle.

Before I take it down to Jeff Hogue in Blanford, does anyone have any ideas?

Oh yeah, I checked all the camping gear, and none of that is free to scull about, and there aren't any stray empties back there either.
