According to my manual, the limit is 2,000lbs. Many states require towed loads in excess of 1,000lbs. be equipped with separate brakes. I sell a receiver style trailer hitch for the Vanagon. Let me know If you'd like more information.

I'm new to the list (just subscibed) and my main reason for doing so is I've been trying to find the tow rating for an '87 Vanagon Syncro - I'm looking at buying one and curious if anyone knows the origional factory tow rating.

I'm sure this has come up before, so if someone could just point me in the right direction as to where to find a "What to look for when buying a Syncro?" source, I'd be very apriciative.

Thanks in advance.

Heath
