The dealers have hard regulations regarding prices and discounts. And what I know is, that official dealers have not the rights to deliver to foreign countries. This is not entirely true. I know of a few large companies that have friends in Germany that order massive quantities of parts and have them shipped here direct. This gives them the ability to sell the parts at a SMALL discount from the actual VW Dealer list price. I doubt there is any way that VW doesn't know this is going on. One dealer in Germany just happens to sell 100 more shift boots a month compared to the one 10 miles away that hasn't sold one in 10 years? I don't think so. > > But if it comes to Syncros, there are no realy second sources avaible. A lot of parts are special made in Austria with exclusiv rights for VW (for instance the arches). That means the answer is much depending of this what you realy need in any moment. I agree here, for the most part. As with any car, if there was enough demand, even Saddam Hussein would start making Synchro parts. > > And please never expect a well considered answer if you ask any question to any VW-dealer regardin a Syncro. Without ETKA you are totally helpless, also in Germany. The only way is to order the part-no. and hopefully you will get the right part. Uh, I work at the Dealer - you need something? Again as with any business, you have people that are there to collect a paycheck and there's people like me - I want to be there. This is the only thing I have ever done, sell parts - VW parts. > > I think the situation regarding the Syncro is much more crazy than you are willy to believe. At minimum, these 4wd cars are 10 years old. How long do you expect the Dealer to carry parts for a car that no one even takes to the Dealer now? I would love to stock Synchro parts, but the computer only lets us stock a part if it has sold 3 times in a 6 month period. So you do the math.
