I'm no expert, but I think my '87 has a sensor on the power steering pump to prevent stalling at low revs when turning the steering wheel. Might be able to check this out. Don't overlook the throttle switch either. Point of etiquete: Serious Volvo fans try to avoid turning the steering wheel when the tires aren't rolling. Supplosed to save wear on the rack and pump and such. What does the List say?
