Subject: Daily driver

Daily driver, Well mine is a 85 Single-Cab Transporter with a transplanted 2.1l WBX. Goes like stink. Mainly do to the lighter weight of the Single -Cab vs the heavy campers and passenger vans. A very useful daily driver. Has a huge storage compartment under the cargo bed. The sides and tail gate to the cargo box all fold down or they can be removed and you have flat deck work truck. It has a huge storage compartment under the cargo floor it's the same size as the lower floor area on a van. One nice feature is that there are locking doors on both sides of the truck to access the treasure chest. I have been thinking of a motor upgrade. There's an extra 6 inches of clearance in the engine bay over what the regular Vanagon has, which means that I don't have to worry about clearance issues associated with the engine swap. Lots of room to work on the engine too. The back engine lid on the Transporters is huge ( 41" by 12") compared to the tiny little one on the vans. One of the things I like is that you don't see to many Vanagon Single-Cab pick-ups around so it stands out. It's nice to have something different from the masses. But then again that's one of the nice features of all VWs.

Cheers Glen
