<< brake dust shields...replacing? >> Larry, the brake dust shields are replaceable. I just did mine during a complete brake overhaul a month ago. They can be obtained from a VW dealer only. Get the six screws that hold them in place to the stub axel. The old ones will more than likely be toast by the time you bang them outa their place. Cost was $69.95 each plus $12.54 for the six screws. PAINT THEM with a good rust preventative paint before installing them ! Don't say I didn't tell you afterwards ! Glad you had a good trip. I may have been able to save you some bucks from your "tres cher" experience in Gatineau but too late for that now. If your ever passing this way again I'm not that far away.

Cheers
