MANY parts that can cause the same (or nearly the same) problems? I always thought the problem of the car completely shutting down without any stutter or anything... just going from 3500 rpm's (or whatever) to zero in a heartbeat and then frequently, just moments later, starting right back up again... had to be caused by one particular thing... or maybe a couple... but not MANY. I've owned a lot of cars... VW's and many others and I have never experienced anything quite like that, or really anything very similar, in any car except my 88 wolfie. Seemed unique to me.

I'm not doubting your word... I'm just surprised.

Fortunately I don't have that problem at the moment and never have in my 89 syncro (knock on wood), but I find it interesting how many people do. And I'm trying to keep my ear to the ground in case I have to deal with it in the future.
