Subject: Pulled engine today
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hey List,

I don't normally write, probably because my Bus has been docked for the past three months... trying to get my sh*t in order before tackling my infirmed 80 Westy.

Much to my surprise, I managed to pull the engine and tranny (as a unit) out of the Bus, get it on the ground, and remove everything down to the pistons (which come out tomorrow). My heads are shot, my pistons look like they've been dragged for miles behind a fast moving vehicle (not mine), and there's more oil in my shrouding-housings than in all of the Middle East. This all arose out of 0.0 lbs compression, 30, 50, 80lbs. Not good. I found out "afterwards" that I was "lucky" to get 30k out of this guy's rebuild.

Big trouble, yes. So... does anybody have a set of heads they'd like to part with? Or maybe even an engine? :) My Westy's crappy on the outside, but dear to my heart... and I own it, so why not?

Thanks in advance, Chris G. 80 Westy 2.0L, "Guyute the Ugly Pig" 187k
