As I said, on my Westy (which had the same sag), my "low-hanging" mudflaps touched the ground MORE often on dips in the road with my original (albeit worn) springs, than with these new springs. With these springs, the van sits lower but dips less, so on bumpy roads it effectively maintains _more_ ground clearance than before. Regarding other spring options, I am not aware of any source for "stock" springs other than VW (or having a set custom made).

Someone else asked me if these springs make the van sit at about the same height as the later model Wolfsburg Editions, which do use a slightly lower spring than other Vanagon models. Not having one here to compare to, I can only speak from memory, but I'd say that they are very close.
