i guess i should chime in on the daily driver issue....i have a 1982 vanagon
and i drive it everyday to and from work.  up here in the mountains of
colorado it definately puts a strain on the air-cooled, but it hasn't failed
me yet (knock on wood)!

My '87 Westy is my daily driver.  She is the only vehicle I own.  I drive
her downtown Chicago everyday to work :-) I have only had her for a few
months though.  My boyfriend has a '74 Superbeetle.  So, it's VW all the way
around for us.
