Dear List, 1) What could cause the wipers in my 83.5 to stay on at all times and/or work erratically, no matter what position the switch is in. I do not think it is the switch itself, since I unplugged the one on the column and plugged in a spare .. same symptoms. Also, the O2 sensor light is almost always on dimly; and it burns brightly if I pull the wiper switch to activate the washer liquid pump. The pump works not at all, but the light glows! Could the problem be an electrical fault in the wiper motor itself? You will recall that I had a minor meltdown of an insulator behind the fuse box about a month ago. 2) Related question: what malfunctions can be attributed to a faulty ignition switch? Any of the above? I have a spare and -- thanks to Ken Wilford -- I now know how to swap it in, if that will solve any or all of my problems. Thanks for your thoughts, Woody 83,5 V'gon 64 Beetle for sale |
